Day 38 - WAFT

38 - waft  n.
1. Something, such as an odor, that is carried through the air.
2. A light breeze; a rush of air.
3. The act of fluttering or waving.
4. Nautical A flag used for signaling orindicating wind direction. Also called waif2.

This year's Macy Day Parade was extra special. Although full of waving hands,

fluttering balloons tossed around by winds wafting through the buildings,

my niece is the little elf driving Santa's sleigh!

Day 37 - HISTORIC

37 - historic adj
1. famous or likely to become famous in history; significant
2. (Historical Terms) a less common word for historical [1-5]
3. (Linguistics) Also secondary Linguistics (of Latin, Greek, or Sanskrit verb tenses) referring to past time
Usage: A distinction is usually made between historic (important, significant) and historical (pertaining to history): a historic decision; a historical perspective.

Neil Clabo was my husband's cousin. It was truly an historic moment for our family

when he made his debut in the NFL in 1975 with the Minnesota Vikings, and played with
them his entire 3-year career. Most people believe 1975 was his best year, as

he dropped 19 punts inside the 20 and had a 41.1 yard punt average. (I have no

idea what that means, but I'm proud of him!) He could sure put away the

food at homecomings!

Day 36 - FETCH

36 - fetch   v.intr.
1.
    a. To go after something and return with it.
    b. To retrieve killed game. Use of a hunting dog.

Uncle John was never seen without his trusty rifle "Betsy" and his hunting dog to fetch the game.

Even though he and his wife lived into the last half of the 20th Century, they never had ate a 

store-bought meal. Uncle John would leave early in the morning, with rifle or fishing pole, and 

bring home dinner in time for her to cook along with the homegrown veggies and fresh baked breads.

A favorite was fried rabbit and poke salad and sweet potato pie.

Day 35 - CROSSROAD

crossroad - noun
1. A road that intersects another road.
2. crossroads (used with a sing. or pl. verb)
    a. A place where two or more roads meet.
    b. A small, usually rural community situated at an intersection of two or more roads: asked for directions at a remote crossroads.
    c. A place that is centrally located.
    d. A crucial point. See Synonyms at crisis.

In youth, a crossroad can become a destiny. Choose left and, within a mile,

you are on I-40, an east-west highway; choose right and, in less than three miles, 

it's north or south on Hwy. 55. Each choice has the potential to create

 a new you by changing how you live, your friendships, what you

do and who you become. Choose wisely.

34 - DETERMINED

34 - determined - adj.
1. Marked by or showing determination; resolute: was engaged in a protracted struggle with a determined enemy.
2. Decided or resolved.

A honey bee determined to gather nectar from every flower. He will

fight to the death anyone invading or endangering the nest during his

very short life span of 28-40 days in the summer. No vacations!



33 - COZY

cozy - adj
 1. cozy - enjoying or affording comforting warmth and shelter especially in a small space; "a cozy nook near the fire"; "snug in bed"; "a snug little apartment"
cosy, snug, comfortable, comfy - providing or experiencing physical well-being or relief (`comfy' is informal); "comfortable clothes"; "comfortable suburban houses"; "made himself comfortable in an armchair"; "the antihistamine made her feel more comfortable"; "are you comfortable?"; "feeling comfy now?"
 2. cozy - having or fostering a warm or friendly and informal atmosphere; "had a cozy chat"; "a relaxed informal manner"; "an intimate cocktail lounge"; "the small room was cozy and intimate"

The warm, relaxed, poses of these young ladies

reveals the safety and comfort that comes from a lifelong friendship. 

 

Day 32 - JELLY

jelly - noun
1. A soft, semisolid food substance with a resilient consistency, made by the setting of a liquid containing pectin or gelatin or by the addition of gelatin to a liquid, especially such a substance made of fruit juice containing pectin boiled with sugar.2. Something, such as a petroleum ointment, having the consistency of a soft, semisolid food substance.
3. A shapeless, pulpy mass: The hero's laser zapped the monster, turning it to jelly.

To be a great centerpiece, the smooth pate holds its shape

 with just a touch of gelatin.
